Mr. Saint Patrick..why am I celebrating you?

Just in case you are wondering…I’ve done a little research on this Patrick that we celebrate each March.  I want to know if he’s worth celebrating.  Sure, dying some food green and pinching people who aren’t wearing green is fun, but I’m not sure I’m into this enough call it a holiday.  Why don’t we just pinch people who aren’t wearing green every day?  That sounds fun to me.  But seriously, I have found a few reasons to celebrate this man…

*St. Patrick is credited with introducing Christianity to Ireland.  He was a missionary!  I will celebrate this.

*The legend of the shamrock…it is said that St. Patrick used the shamrock to explain the doctrine of the trinity to the Irish people.  A man after my own heart–using the things in nature and the things that people are already familiar with to explain a God they didn’t know!  Good job Patty.

*So March 17th is the accepted day of Patrick’s death.  Truthfully, I wish we celebrated his birthday.  I think we decided to celebrate his death day because his birthday is Dec. 16th and apparently that is too close to Jesus’ birthday.

In honor of Saint Patrick, Andee is abiding by the American culture and wearing green.  She is also pinching my face a lot, but I have green on so that is not playing by the rules.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

I’ll leave you with a prayer that is attributed to our friend Patrick.  Not bad if I do say so myself.  This would sure be a good thing to say each morning when we wake up…

Christ be with me, Christ within me,
Christ behind me, Christ before me,
Christ beside me, Christ to win me,
Christ to comfort and restore me,
Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ in quiet, Christ in danger,
Christ in hearts of all that love me,
Christ in mouth of friend and stranger.

Warmth :)

It was almost 60 degrees this weekend! We had a fabulous Saturday morning.  We went out to eat breakfast, went to the BV Demon Girls first soccer scrimmage, and even got to hang out in the front yard on a blanket for awhile!  Being at the BV stadium was so much fun–and so different than football season with Andee!  She is now crawling all around, trying to put the grass in her mouth (does this mean she has a stomach ache or is that just dogs?), and actually watching the action on the field!

Here are a few pics from our time in the front yard!

I LOVE that she LOVES her daddy kissing her 🙂

Enjoy the warmth 🙂

270 days!

Well, 270ish….Andee is 9 months old today!

Here are some pics of her today.  I took them this morning because her hair was looking so fab…

Our version of "baby proofing." We bought the outlet protectors, and now Andee chews on the outlet protector box instead of crawling towards the outlets 🙂

For those of you who are into statistics, here are Andee’s…

Weight:  16 lbs, 12.5 oz.  20th percentile

Height: 28.5 inches.  80th percentile

Head Circumference: 17.5 in.  70th percentile.

Looks like we will have a smart model on our hands 🙂

Heart rate: 124 beats per minute.

Respiration rate:  32

Other interesting facts:

  • Andee is now crawling all over the house.
  • She loves the kitchen.
  • The other day she turned over the dog bowls, even the water one.  And then wanted to sit in it and play.
  • She loves getting a bath in the sink.
  • She talks to her dolly and to any stuffed animal.
  • She calls Steve “Daaaa Daaaa.”
  • Her favorite book is either “Buenas Noches Luna” or “Mommy Calls me Monkeypants,”  depending on the day.
  • She sleeps great–4 hours worth of naps and 12 hours at night!  Truth is, we don’t see her that much because she sleeps all the time.
  • Pig tails have been happening for months.  This child has some crazy hair.
  • She loves the dogs–if they are in the room she is happy.
  • She is perfect.  Absolutely perfect.

I’m supposed to be working…

But I saw a harassing comment from my friend Jana on my last post.  So I figured I should post a few pics of sweet Andee before someone goes postal on me.

Granna and Granddad were here this past weekend.  We had a great time!  Here are a few pics.  Of course, I didn’t even get a pic of all of us.  Silly me.

chillin' with granddad

You know how sometimes when you leave your pets and go on vacation they kind of go crazy?  Like our dog Henri-when we go out of town he pees on rugs.  He never does that when we are here.  Ok, so I think Andee has this same problem.  Not peeing on rugs, but close.  She is apparently not happy that her grandparents left yesterday.  During her afternoon nap yesterday, she pooped out of her diaper and smeared it all over her white crib bumper.  Pleasant.  And this morning, I went in to get her and she had pooped all over her pajamas and crib sheet.  Seriously, Andee, peeing on a rug is better.

And if you didn’t get enough pictures above, here is a link to a few more….
